Work planning & delegation
Plans and delegates in ambiguous or high-impact situations, adapts the delegation approach to risk and individual capability, improves the unit's planning method and guides supervisors in applying it.
In this journey
- Re-prioritises the unit's plan when an urgent directive arrives, identifying and documenting which tasks are deferred or reassigned and informing affected parties of the new dates.
- Sets the appropriate authority level for each delegated decision (decide, recommend, or be informed) according to the decision's risk and the employee's readiness, and attaches a written support plan with review and coaching points to every developmental task that stretches beyond the employee's usual role.
- Analyses the causes of variance between planned and actual delivery at the end of a planning cycle and derives from them the right adjustment to duration estimates and team capacity in the next plan.
- Evaluates the work plan and delegation decisions of a supervisor reporting to them, identifying weaknesses such as a task assigned without a defined output, deadline or authority limit, or high-value tasks kept for a single employee, and drafts documented feedback to improve them.
